SA Fintech Yoco Acquires Dyner.ai To Expand AI-Powered Commerce Tools For SMEs

May 29, 2026

South African fintech Yoco has acquired Dyner.ai as part of its push to evolve from a payments provider into a broader AI-driven commerce platform for SMEs.

Founded in 2015 by Katlego Maphai, Carl Wazen, Bradley Wattrus, and Lungisa Matshoba, Yoco serves more than 200,000 merchants across South Africa. Dyner.ai, founded by former Discovery actuaries Thalentha Ngobeni and Chris du Plessis, develops software that helps restaurants manage inventory, suppliers, margins, and operations using AI.

The acquisition comes ahead of German executive Carsten Höltkemeyer taking over as CEO. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
